A dynamic community for former JSPS fellows, fostering enduring scientific and cultural ties between Italy and Japan.
Updates from the association, fellowship calls, symposia and bilateral activities.
The Italian JSPS Alumni Association was founded in Milan in 2024 and formally recognized in January 2025 as the twenty-first official JSPS Alumni Association worldwide. Its mission is to serve as a dynamic community for former JSPS fellows, fostering enduring scientific and cultural ties between Italy and Japan.
What began as an informal network of former fellows has since evolved into a recognized and growing community united by a shared commitment to strengthening scientific collaboration, mutual understanding, and long-term partnership between the Italian and Japanese research communities.
The Association is committed to:
Strengthening connections among scholars who have received JSPS research fellowships, and promoting intellectual and scientific exchange across disciplines
Raising awareness in Italy of JSPS programs and opportunities, and supporting Italian and Italy-based researchers interested in pursuing academic work in Japan
Facilitating the integration of Italian and Italian-speaking researchers into Japan’s academic and research landscape
Organizing and promoting scientific events, with a special focus on collaborative initiatives that reinforce bilateral cooperation between Italy and Japan
Advancing cultural exchange through initiatives that highlight the shared heritage, values, and innovative spirit of both countries, in Italy and across Europe
